“Preparation for upfest angel 1” as its title indicates, is a work that the artist carries out before a larger work. Indeed Guy Denning‘s drawings are sometimes preparatory studies for street art works of murals or paintings. Thus for this project the artist made a series of original charcoal drawings in 2018. We see postures and details of a character half man half angel. For the record this drawing is the last one available from the series. He studies the juvenile face of the character, a great sweetness emerges from it.

The theme of the angel in Guy Denning’s street art approach is recurrent. In fact, it can be admired on several urban art scenes in Europe and even in New York. Angels are universal entities common to all religions. That’s why he put them in his series of works “Paradise is here” which illustrates his perception of the climate emergency: “My objective is to alert public opinion to the damage we are inflicting on our planet. It’s a vision of a world that is not perfect, inhabited by people who are not perfect either…Download them from my Facebook and stick them on your walls! advises Guy Denning. I’m just an artist. I’m passing on a message that I feel deeply.”
